City Council Votes to increase Local Vendor Preference
At its May 2nd meeting, The City Council voted to introduce an
ordinance to amend the Municipal Code to reflect raising the Local Vendor
Preference threshold for commodities and professional Services from 1% to 5%.
They also voted to develop an agreement with the Huntington Beach Auto Dealers
for a one-year pilot program that would provide an Annual Beach Parking Pass
for all cars sold in Huntington Beach.
The purpose of the Council action is to stimulate the local Huntington Beach
economy and help stimulate business in the City. The action is part of the
City's 10-Point Plan for Local Business. The Huntington Beach Chamber of
Commerce Board of Directors reviewed the ordinance and was supportive of the action
